1. Paint the Town Red Block Party
Paint the Town Red is throwing a block party in downtown Pittsburg Friday. The night will be full of music, games and more. The party kicks off at 6 p.m., and a children’s fun run will begin at 6:30 p.m.
2. Gorilla Football
The Pittsburg State Gorillas host their home opener Saturday at Carnie Smith Stadium. The Gorillas will face the University of Central Oklahoma Bronchos in their first home appearance. Kick-off is at 7 p.m. Tickets are available through the Gorilla Football website or at the stadium on gameday.
3. Alice in Steampunk Wonderland
The Midwest Regional Ballet is opening “Alice in Steampunk Wonderland” at Pittsburg’s Memorial Auditorium this weekend. The show opens Friday at 7:30 p.m., with another 7:30 p.m. showing on Saturday. A 2:30 p.m. matinee showing will take place Sunday. The performance tells the classic story of Alice in Wonderland with a steampunk setting and set to the music of ‘80s rock band Queen.
4. Arcadia Old Settlers Days
Arcadia’s Old Settlers Days offers a weekend full of events. The fun starts Friday with a street dance at 7 p.m. with music by the Ridgerunners. A sidewalk chalk art contest will be hosted for children. Saturday’s events include a parade at 10 a.m., bean feed starting at 11 a.m., a poker run and more. Arcadia Community Church will have a service at 10 a.m. Sunday in Powell Park.
5. Cherokee Homecoming
Cherokee Homecoming opens Friday with a free bean feed in the park at 5 p.m, followed by bingo. Saturday events include a parade at 11 a.m. followed by a lunch with the Red Oak Pickers playing gospel and bluegrass music, and more. A street dance will take place downtown at 7 p.m. featuring music from the Renegades. Sunday will include an antique tractor pull and prize drawings.
