1. Alice in Steampunk Wonderland
Midwest Regional Ballet is presenting a second full weekend of Alice in Steampunk Wonderland at Memorial Auditorium. Performances take place 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday with a 2:30 p.m. Sunday show. The ballet tells the classic story of Alice in Wonderland in a steampunk setting and the music of 80s rock band Queen. Tickets are available at the Memorial Auditorium box office and website.
2. Brighter Days
Crawford County Mental Health is putting on its first ever Brighter Days event Saturday. Brighter Days is day full of fun and information to bring awareness to mental health and the services in the community. The day includes a 5k run or walk, Zumba-thon, children’s inflatables, and more. Booths with information — as well as vendors — will be present. Dance Pitt and the YMCA Academy of Dance will also perform. The event takes place at the Robert W. Plaster Center at Pittsburg State University. The 5k begins at 8 a.m. and booths, silent auction and more are open from 9 a.m. to noon.
3. Free State Renegades at Kansas Crossing
The Free State Renegades are performing a free show at the Bronco Bar in the Kansas Crossing Casino Friday. The Renegades are a Wichita-based band that plays everything from rock to top 40 to country — they’ve even got some red dirt tunes. Music starts at 8 p.m. Must be 21 years of age to attend. Admission is free.
4. Greenbush Day
The 24th Annual Greenbush Day has something for everyone. The event kicks off Sunday with a hog roast from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Over the course of the day, there will be a homemade ice cream sale, one room schoolhouse tours and more. Musical entertainment will be provided, and children can compete in a tractor pull at 1 p.m., enjoy horse rides or build a Lego wall in the science center.
