Blessing of the Animals

The Southeast Kansas Humane Society in partnership with First United Methodist Church, Wesley House, and St John’s Lutheran will participate in an ecumenical Blessing of the Animals from 2-3 p.m. This event will be held at the First United Methodist Church’s front lawn, 415 N Pine. All animals must be on a leash or in a carrier. There is no cost for this event and it is open to the public.

 

All Faith Church

All Faith Church at 307 N. Military in Mulberry will have visiting Pastor Ron Barr for a service at 6 p.m.

 

Crawford County Democrats

The Crawford County Democrats will meet at 3 p.m. at the Pittsburg Public Library. An election will be held to fill the vice-chair position formerly held by Don Noland. The position is open to any registered Democrat male in Crawford County. Only current precinct committee persons may vote. Other discussion will include upcoming events and precinct recruitment.

 

Following Monarchs by Bike

Sara Dykman will bicycle into Pittsburg to present a program on Monarch butterflies at 2 p.m. at Yates Hall on the Pittsburg State University campus. Dykman has biked 7,000 miles since march following the migration route of the monarchs from Mexico to Maine and back to Kansas.

 

Legion dance

The Pittsburg American Legion Post 64 will host Sunday Dance at the Pittsburg American Legion, 2115 N Joplin. Doors open at 1 p.m. and the dance is from 2-5 p.m.

 

Monday, October 2

PSU Jazz Concert

The Pittsburg State University jazz ensemble and jazz combo will open its season with a free concert at 7:30 p.m. in the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts. Director Bob Kehle said the concert will have something for everyone, from jazz standards to new works, including songs from the libraries of Count Basie, Les Hooper, Buddy Rich, and more. The concert is open to the public.

 

Co-Dependents Anonymous

Co-Dependents Anonymous is a 12 step fellowship of men and women whose common purpose is recovery from codependence and the development and maintenance of healthy relationships. CoDA meets at noon at St. Peter’s Episcopal, 306 W. Euclid. For further information call 620-231-0499.

TOPS 0599 (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) meets every Monday at St. Mary's Grade School located at 301 E. 9th. Private weigh-ins are from 5:30 to 6:20 p.m. Meetings start at 6:30 p.m. and are designed to provide motivation and support to help members reach their weight loss goals. Visitors are always welcome. TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) 0975, Girard, meets every Monday at 511 N. Western in Girard, KS. Private weigh-in will begin at 5 p.m. and end at 5:45 p.m. Meetings begin at 6 p.m. A support and motivational program is presented each week to encourage members to reach and maintain weight loss goals. NAMI Southeast Kansas

The NAMI family support group and a NAMI connections group meet on the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Pittsburg Presbyterian Church, 520 N. Pine.

 

American Legion Post 64

Pittsburg American Legion Post #64 will hold their meeting every third Monday of each month at 7pm. All members are encouraged to attend.
