GIRARD — The Crawford County Commission approved payment for three dump trucks purchased this year at its regular meeting Tuesday.

The trucks were purchased from Joplin Freightliner earlier this year, and the commission met with Sales Manager Cameron Lawrence to make sure all specifications were correct before paying for the trucks.

Lawrence also agreed to set up a training session with road and bridge workers from each district to go over features and controls.

The commission approved payment for two of the trucks, and authorized a lease purchase for the third.

The commission also double and triple checked to make sure the three trucks were accurately recorded on the list for the county’s property and casualty insurance.

Commissioner Jeff Murphy reported that three candidates took part in the first round of interviews for the vacant position of Crawford County Convention and Visitors Bureau director. A second round of interviews will take place in the coming weeks.

“I was very impressed by the first round of candidates,” Murphy said. “They had a lot of experience and qualifications, so I’m happy about having strong candidates.”

The commission will have a work session with IMA Consulting at 11 a.m. Friday. The work session will be aimed at narrowing down employee benefit plan options.
