PITTSBURG — Pups at Happy Paws were delivered new puppy beds, treats, paper towels, bowls, leashes and more, thanks to the Panhellenic Council and individuals at sororities from Pittsburg State University on Wednesday.
Happy Paws, owned by Leann Moore, has been a dog shelter, grooming service and boarding for the past two years. She thanked the sorority members who brought bags of items through the door.
“Having rescue dogs you go through bedding, food, collars, leashes, everything you need for a dog times 15,” she said.
Community Service and Philanthropy Chair Sydnee Pointer said she knew someone from Happy Paws, helper Theresa Moriconi, and she knew that they were in need of items just like the other shelters around.
“I was talking to her this summer about what she does at her job,” she said. “She said, ‘I have to go feed some animals,’ and I asked for what and she said, ‘I work for Happy Paws.’
“I was like, that was amazing. Let me help you out.”
The items were collected to help relieve some of the cost of running an animal shelter.
“It’s closer, I live down the street,” Pointer said. “What a great way to help.”
The sorority members which collected the items for Happy Paws also donated their time walking the dogs and holding puppies.
