PITTSBURG — Sometime this week, people driving down Broadway and around town, will notice decorated pumpkins proudly displayed at storefronts.

For this week’s Pittsburg Area Chamber of Commerce Coffee meeting on Thursday, hosted by Via Christi Hospital, local businesses and different departments at the hospital will have a pumpkin decorating contest.

For two decades the hospital hosted the contest, but it was for the hospital’s department's only.

Via Christi Hospital Vice President of Operations Drew Talbott said this year, the hospital decided to invite local businesses which are chamber members to join in the fun.

“We’re excited to see creativity of other businesses,” he said.

Chamber members and staff will judge the pumpkins and the winners will receive trophies which they can put alongside their prize pumpkin.

During the meeting the businesses will have an opportunity for health screenings and learn about services available at the hospital.
