Alzheimer’s caregivers

A breakfast club for Alzheimer’s caregivers will meet at 9 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 415 N. Pine. The club meets the third Thursday of every month and offers an opportunity to talk with those who share similar issues. Anyone may attend who serves as a family caregiver to an individual with a dementia like Alzheimers. For more information, call 778-1806.

 

United Mine Workers

United Mine Workers of America, District 12, Local 14 will meet Thursday at noon for a Thanksgiving dinner at the Homer Cole Community Center, 3303 N. Joplin. The meeting is open to all UMWA members.

 

Cherokee Senior Citizens

Cherokee Senior Citizens will meet at the Senior Building at 11:30. Business meeting will be held followed by a lunch. All residents 55 and over are invited to attend. Please bring a side dish. After lunch we will play bingo, if enough are interested in doing so.

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) 0884 meetings are held each Thursday at Knights of Columbus Towers, 700 N. Pine. Private weigh-ins begin at 9 a.m. Business meeting starts at 9:30 a.m. Each week, a program is presented for support and motivation for members to reach and maintain their weight-loss goals. Co-Dependents Anonymous

Frontenac American Legion Bingo

Frontenac American Legion conducts bingo games every Thursday evening at the Frontenac Senior Citizen Center located at 113 N. Crawford in Frontenac. Cards go on sale at 5:30 p.m. and play begins at 6:30 p.m.

 

Pittsburg Noon Kiwanis

The Pittsburg Noon Kiwanis meets every Thursday at noon in the dePaul Hall at Via Christi Hospital.

Pittsburg American Legion Bingo

The Pittsburg American Legion will host bingo every Friday at the legion home. Doors open at 5 p.m. Early bird games are at 6:20 p.m. and regular bingo is at 6:30 p.m.

 

Saturday, November 18

Pittsburg American Legion

The American Legion, 2815 N. Joplin, hosts a noon feed for veterans on the third Saturday of every month. Additionally, an accredited veterans service officer with the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 317 and sponsored by American Legion Post 64 Pittsburg will be present beginning at 8:30 a.m. Please call 620-231-2240 to make an appointment.

 

Veterans benefits

The Veterans Service Officer will be available every third Saturday of each month beginning at 9am. All veterans needing assistance with VA benefits are welcome. Call the American Legion at 231-2240 to make an appointment.
