1. Pittsburg Community Thanksgiving Dinner

The Pittsburg Community Thanksgiving Day Dinner will be hosted by St. John’s Lutheran Church Thursday. Meals will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with carryout available at 11 a.m. Delivery is also available for homebound individuals. Delivery arrangements must be made before noon Wednesday, November 22, and can be made by calling 620-231-4085.

2. Lord’s Diner Thanksgiving Dinner

The Lord’s Diner will be serving a traditional Thanksgiving meal Thursday. The diner provides a free meal daily to anyone from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Turkey, mashed potatoes and other traditional items will be on the menu for Thanksgiving. The meal is free of charge, but donations are welcome.

3. Give Thanks: Just 4 Fun Run

Pittsburg Parks and Recreation is hosting a free 5k run or walk Thursday morning. The 5k will begin at 8 a.m. at Wilderness Park in Frontenac. The run and walk provides a perfect opportunity to wake up and work up an appetite for a Thanksgiving meal. There is no admission cost, but free-will donations for improvements at Schlanger Park will be accepted and appreciated.

4. Elks Lodge Community Dinner

The Fort Scott Elks Lodge will host a community Thanksgiving Dinner from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The meal is free, but free-will donations will be accepted.

5. Joplin Salvation Army Community Dinner

Salvation Army of Joplin is hosting a Thanksgiving meal beginning at 11:30 a.m. and will also offer mobile meals. Folks can sign up for mobile meals by calling 417-624-4528 by noon Wednesday.
