1. Wreaths Across America

Wreaths Across America will host a wreath-laying ceremony at Fort Scott National Cemetery Saturday. Wreaths Across America is a military charity, which organizes events like this nationwide. An escort to the ceremony will leave Pittsburg at 9 a.m. from the Walmart Supercenter parking lot.

2. Christmas Cookie and Craft Fair

First Christian Church in Girard is hosting its annual Christmas Cookie and Craft Fair Friday. The fair will open at 7 a.m. and last until everything is sold out. Cookies, crafted items and more will be available. The fair takes place at the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall in Girard.

3. Pittsburg Youth Chorale

The Pittsburg Youth Chorale will wrap up a string of holiday performances at 10 a.m. Saturday. The group will perform a final show at Memorial Auditorium. Selections will include traditional holiday standards like “Sleigh Ride” and “Silent Night,” and some newer favorites such as “Jingle Bell Rock” and “Mele Kalikimaka.” Pittsburg Youth Chorale prides itself on preparing music from past Southeast Kansas District Elementary Choir as well as pieces from Kansas All-State Elementary Choir. The chorale is under the direction of Mary Jo Harper.

4. Breakfast with Santa

Pittsburg High School Theatre is hosting its annual Breakfast with Santa with The Mount Carmel Foundation this Saturday. The performance of “A Very Martian Christmas” will begin at 9 a.m. at the PHS auditorium. The play is performed by underclassmen and student directed by Senior Alexis Daniels, assisted by juniors Amanda Bourbina and McKenna Shaw. Following the performance, breakfast will be provided by The Mount Carmel Foundation, with a visit from Santa Claus. Photographs with Santa will be available. The show and breakfast are free to children and families.
