PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg branch of Glass Depot has become truly local after being purchased by Bart Arnett and undergoing a name change.

Arnett took over the at the Glass Depot branch in Pittsburg on Nov. 6, and renamed it Arnett Glass. Since then, he’s been focusing on glasswork for both residential bathrooms and commercial storefronts.

Arnett said he saw a need in the market and wanted to fill it.

“I felt like there was a need in the market for glasswork,” he said. “The owners of Glass Depot gave me an opportunity and I took it.”

Arnett first noticed the rising need for glass while working at Crossland Construction, where he was employed for more than 14 years.

“Glass has always been vital in construction,” he said. “But my interest arose as I saw it becoming a part of the design more and more.”

Through his research, Arnett said he found it unlikely that another medium will take the place of glass in the near future. However, he did say the technology for installation and more continues to improve.

Arnett currently has one employee — who stayed on from Glass Depot — and says he is hoping to grow. The company specializes in commercial storefront glass and custom shower doors for residential homes.

While the businesses was established as the Pittsburg branch of Glass Depot, Arnett said he is not connected to Glass Depot in any way. Arnett Glass is its own business.

“I took the opportunity to take an established business and give it a fresh name,” Arnett said.
