GIRARD — An Arma man was hospitalized following a wreck Wednesday evening on Kansas Highway 47 approximately one mile west of Girard.

Joshua David Prince, 37, was transported to Via Christi Hospital after a wreck left his vehicle overturned in the south ditch off K-47, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. The wreck occurred at approximately 5:50 p.m. Wednesday.

A report on the KHP Crash Log stated Prince was traveling eastbound on K-47 in a 2004 Ford. Prince was approaching a 1998 Caterpillar farm tractor towing a farming implement — also headed eastbound on K-47 — and his vehicle struck the left rear corner of the farm implement. Prince then lost control of the vehicle and drove into the south ditch, where his vehicle overturned.

Prince was transported to Via Christi Hospital with injuries.

The tractor was driven by Hunter Joseph Kavanagh, 19, of Girard. Kavanagh was not injured, according to the KHP report.

K-47 was blocked on both sides of the wreck past 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, while the scene was cleared.
