PITTSBURG — Pittsburg residents have a new way to keep up on the doings at the City of Pittsburg.

The city has created a blog to share city news and updates with the community.

On Tuesday, Pittsburg City Manager Daron Hall put up the first post on the city’s accomplishments and projects the city has planned for 2018.

The blog serves as another information platform for the community and news outlets to use.

Hall said the city takes pride in Pittsburg and its accomplishments, and wants to share them with the community — including the city employees who are hard at work in the background fixing water lines and more.

He said the process of sharing Pittsburg’s stories started when they hired Public Information Manager Sarah Runyon.

With her help, Hall said, they plan to run the blog and utilize social media to be as transparent as possible.

“We want to show, at the end of the day we are just human beings,” Hall said. “We have thoughts and we want to peek from behind the curtain from behind the scenes.”

Hall praised Runyan for her efforts and her knowledge on social media.

“She really has a feel for it and has already improved the organization significantly … we asked her to be a leader and she has,” he said.

Along with Hall, other department heads will also share in the blogging.

Runyon said there will be variety of stories on the blog and it will evolve over time.

The blog can be found on the city’s website, as well as its social media pages at www.pittks.org/news/.
