PITTSBURG — Organizations now have a way to connect to volunteers through Time 2 Give.

Time 2 Give is part of Pittsburg State University Student Abbi Epperson’s passion project through her sorority.

It all began on a six day trip in Louisiana to volunteer with her Alpha Gamma Delta sorority sisters.

The experience sparked the idea of Time 2 Give, where she realized many people wished to volunteer but were not sure what was the best fit for them, or where to go.
The organizations were in the same boat, Epperson said, they needed to be paired with volunteers best suited for the job.
“There are all of these amazing volunteer opportunities,” she said. “I wanted to help them keep doing what they do best.”
Through surveys, Time 2 Give matches the volunteer with an organization based on experience, availability, training, the need for background checks, along with the variety of skills and needs of each party.

For example, Epperson said, if someone is interested in environmental safety, then a volunteer opportunity outdoors may be a best fit.
She said there are many students who volunteer outside their interests because they don’t know what else to do, but need or want the volunteer experience and often find themselves in a less preferred job.

Epperson said Time 2 Give embodies the motto, “the most important gift you can give is your time.”

Time 2 Give is a free service and can be accessed through the Time 2 Give Crawford County Facebook page and website at abbiepperson.wixsite.com/time2givecc.
