PITTSBURG — Expectant and new mothers will have an opportunity to explore services available in the community which may benefit their growing families.

Riggs Chiropractic will host the baby shower from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday in its office. There will also be door prizes, which people do not have to be present to win.

This will be the second baby shower, last year went well Owner Kayla Riggs, DC said, and she expects it to be a hit again this year.

The idea came from wanting to to give expectant families, or growing families, an opportunity to learn about resources which will make every day life go a little bit easier, Riggs said.

For example she said, some may want their dog trained before the baby comes or a growing family may be considering a new car or insurance.

Riggs said there will also be information about chiropractic work during pregnancy and on newborns. She said chiropractors learn about these topics through pediatric and pregnancy certifications.

“It is a lot different,” she said. “We don’t use much pressure — the amount we would use to check how ripe a tomato is.”

The vendors during the baby shower include: Up Front Studio, Sweet Designs Cakery, Julie Huston Insurance, Yoga with Mona Rae, Usborne Books & More, Sound & Stone Massage, Jay Hatfield, Ryan Insurance, The Beauty Bar, Pittsburg Police Department, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Kelci Rae’s Dog Training, Crawford County Health Department and Pinamonti Physical Therapy and Wellness Center.
