PITTSBURG — Pittsburg residents advanced down the gameboard of a life-sized Monopoly game on Friday and Saturday at Meadowbrook Mall.

During a Monopoly-themed business expo, 34 local businesses filled the mall to share the services they provide. The expo was hosted by the Pittsburg Area Chamber of Commerce.

A few new businesses joined this year’s expo — including G.L. Hunt Exterior and Jordan CPA services.

Windows, siding and roofing services can be found at G.L. Hunt Exterior’s square. They also have walk-in tub services through 620Tubs.

“Kansas has storms every year,” Project Manager Ryan Biggs said while explaining why good siding keeps a home safe and dry.

On the other side of the “board” is Jordan CPA Services, which offer CPA services and growth  plans for small businesses.

Jordan CPA Services President Andrew Jordan said he expanded to Pittsburg because “Pittsburg has a good community,” which he plans to offer his accounting package services to small businesses in the community.

Sunscape Pool and Backyard may sound like a new businesses in Pittsburg, but it’s base business called Home Center Construction began in 1977. In the last month, Project Manager Daniel Warlop said, the business created an “identity” for its pool related services.

“It has been a long time coming, now we have our own identity,” he said about the pool services.

The chamber recognized businesses with trophies which booth had the best use of product, Ever Skin Care, best theme, Via Christi Hospital and best in show, Labette Bank.

Chamber Special Event Coordinator Dani Gosch said the turnout was great.
