PITTSBURG — Although The Door Christian Fellowship Church has been at its new location since January, the staff will make its opening official in time for Easter.
The church will host its regular service at 11 a.m. Sunday at 130 East 3rd Street. Following that, the staff will present a ribbon cutting ceremony alongside the Pittsburg Area Chamber of Commerce.
“We spent the last quarter of 2017 renovating this building, but we had a building up north before this one,” Pastor Ryan Burtch said. “It was a pretty terrible location because not many people knew where it was.”
Immediately after the ceremony, The Door will end the festivities with an easter egg hunt. Burtch recommended that parents interested in bringing their children to the hunt arrive at noon.
“I think at the rate things are looking, the easter egg hunt is probably going to be inside of our church,” Burtch said. “I hear the weather will be pretty miserable.”
Burtch said one of the main goals of this ceremony is to simply make the church’s existence known to the public.
“What we’re driving at is letting the community know we are here to serve and ready to give back however we can,” he said. “Maybe there are people who don’t have a church to call home and we are hoping they will consider us.”
