PITTSBURG — Pittsburg welcomed a new establishment into the downtown area this weekend — The Pitt.
The restaurant and bar celebrated its grand opening Friday at 516 North Broadway.
“It’s been good — not crazy busy, which we like, because we have some things that aren’t going quite right,” Owner Kyle Michael said. “It’s a good training day, though, so on that level, it’s been perfect so far.”
Alongside the opening of the restaurant itself, The Pitt will feature a DJ at 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
“I feel we have the best burgers in town — chicken wings, appetizers,” Michael said. “We kept the menu pretty simple and we’ve got a big bar with a good selection of different alcohols.”
Michael previously owned several fast food restaurants.
“I built restaurants in Florida and stuff like that so I’m semi-familiar with it, but if you asked me eight weeks ago whether I was going to own a bar, i would have said ‘nope,’” he said. “This all came about real fast.”
The owner said he is optimistic about the bar’s longevity.
“For places like this, management is key,” he said. “If we can keep that up, I think we can do real well here.”
