GIRARD — Families are invited to take a look into space and discover the stars.

Greenbush is hosting a Star Party from 7 to 10 p.m. at the PSU Greenbush Astrophysical Observatory.

“We want to get people out on campus and see what we have available here and have a fun time and learn,” Greenbush Camp and Enrichment Coordinator Emily Joy Roth said.

The event begins with a dinner of hotdogs and chips for the first 100 guests. There will also be yard games to play.

After a meal and games, people will watch a presentation by Greenbush Inter-distance Learning Instructor Josh Cochran to learn about what they are going to see in the stars that evening.

Following the presentation people will be split into groups where they will take turns visiting the planetarium, using telescopes and binoculars.

Roth said to note that cloudy weather may obstruct the view of the stars. She said people can keep updated on the event at Greenbush’s Facebook page.

The event is free and open to the public, however, to give Greenbush and idea of how many guests are coming people should register online at greenbush.org/summercamps. People can register up to the day of the event.
