PITTSBURG — A man struck by a vehicle on Sunday at Atkinson Street is in stable condition after being airlifted to Kansas City.
At about 9 p.m. Sunday, the Pittsburg Fire Department, Crawford County EMS, Frontenac Police Department and Crawford County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to 800 East Atkinson in regards to a vehicle vs. pedestrian accident, according to a release.
Upon arrival, the responders located Quentin Klepper who was lying in the roadway suffering from injuries sustained during the accident.
According to the release the officers spoke to the driver of a Chevy Malibu Jason Tyler. Tyler was traveling east on Atkinson and struck Klepper as he walked east in the same lane.
Klepper was treated on scene and later transported to Via Christi for further treatment.
Via Christi stated Klepper is in stable condition and was transferred to University of Kansas Health System by air. KU Med will neither confirm or deny Klepper’s presence.
