PITTSBURG — Pittsburg American Post 64 continued their hot start to the Legion season on Tuesday, blowing past Columbus Post 3 11-0 and 16-1 at Jaycee Park to push their winning streak to eight games
Game one Pittsburg 11, Columbus 0
In Tuesday’s opener Pittsburg needed only five hits to bring home 11 runs. Jake Lee picked up the win from the mound, striking out seven while allowing only two hits in four innings.
Tyler Brynds went 1-for-2 with two runs scored and two stolen bases. Tye Cicero’s had one hit and drove in a run on a sacrifice fly.
Ethan Jahay hit a double and batted home two RBIs.
Jhalani Long, Trenton Austin, Jake Lee and Brandon Petty also drove in runs. Post 64 took advantage of 11 walks and four errors from Columbus to help lead them to the five inning win.
Post 64 out hit Post 3 5-3.
Game two Pittsburg 16, Columbus 1
Pittsburg doubled that hit total in the nightcap, bringing home five runs in the first inning to build an early 5-1 lead.
Post 64 added in three runs in the second and eight runs in the third to secure the win.
Trenton Austin earned the win in relief, pitching two hitless innings. Austin finished with four strikeouts, along with two hits and two RBs from the plate.
Connor Dillon and starting pitcher Zach Sutton finished 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs.
Logan VanBecelaere and Jahay also chipped in two RBIs each.
Brynds scored three runs.
Post 64 has scored double digit run totals in seven of their eight games during this win streak.
Post 64 travels to Lenexa, Kansas for the USSSA 3&2 Summer Slam on Friday. Pittsburg will return to Jaycee Ballpark for a doubleheader against Kansas City SC Blaze on June 19 at 6 p.m.
