PITTSBURG — A Pittsburg man will likely spend the rest of his life in prison, following his conviction on sex charges.
On Monday, David Roy Thompson, 61, was found guilty of aggravated indecent liberties with a child under the age of 14 and rape of a child under the age of 14.
Thompson, who had waived his right to a jury trial and instead opted for a bench trial before Judge Lori Bolton-Flemming, is now facing a possible sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole for 25 years.
Although he had been in jail since the time of his arrest, Flemming revoked his $100,000 bond to prevent any possibility of him bonding out.
Thompson was arrested in early 2017, but the charges stem from incidents from Dec. 29, 2014 to Aug. 20, 2015 in which Thompson had sexual contact with a child under the age 14, according to court documents.
Thompson will be sentenced July 30.
