GIRARD — According to a release from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, provided to the media Friday afternoon, has announced that Crawford County Sheriff Dan Peak, and Undersheriff Steve Geier will retire in the spring and summer of 2019 respectively.
Peak will retire on April 1, 2019 and Geier will follow on July 1, 2019. Peak has accepted a position at Watco. Geier has not announced his plans following retirement.
In the release Peak praised the officers under his management.
“Their dedication to their communities and the levels of professionalism and integrity that they display daily in the performance of their duties is why the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office is held in such high regard in our region and throughout the State of Kansas,” the release said.
Peak joined the Crawford County Sheriff's Department in 1988. He served as undersheriff for Sandy Horton before being elected sheriff in 2012 and 2016. Geier joined the sheriff’s department in 1985.
In the release Peak endorsed Captain Danny Smith as his replacement.
