PITTSBURG — A Pittsburg man was apprehended after attempting to elude the police over the weekend.
At approximately 12:54 p.m., Sunday, the Pittsburg Police Department were dispatched to JC Penney’s department store at Meadowbrook Mall in reference to shoplifting.
According to a release, upon arrival officers saw the suspect fleeing the scene in a silver Ford Taurus.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspect fled causing a short pursuit.
The pursuit ended in the 400 block of east Jackson street where the suspect exited the vehicle and ran into a residence.
Officers apprehended the male, 31-year-old Pittsburg resident Terry White Jr. and placed him into custody.
According the the release, after White was arrested, officers then learned that during the commission of the shoplifting White had allegedly told store associates that he would shoot them if they followed him.
White was transported to the Crawford County jail and booked on the following charges: aggravated assault, theft, felony/flee/elude, obstruction, reckless driving and multiple minor traffic violations.
In a separate incident later Sunday evening, an officer spotted a vehicle fail to signal prior to turning off Joplin Street onto 21st street. While the vehicle was turning onto 21st street, the vehicle left the roadway, stopped, backup into the intersection and proceeded East on 21st street.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspect fled, causing a short pursuit. The pursuit ended in the 600 block of East 23rd Street; where the driver, Kristen Don Nickolas Romesburg, Pittsburg, 22, of Pittsburg, was taken into custody.
Romesburg arrested on allegations of driving under the influence, felony fleeing or eluding, and multiple minor traffic violations.
