PITTSBURG — A local business has had its assets seized by the Kansas Department of Revenue for non-payment of taxes.
According to a KDOR release, at 9 a.m., Sept. 24, agents with KDOR accompanied by members of the Pittsburg Police Department executed tax warrants and seized the assets of We Do All Pools and More LLC located at 302 S. Broadway.
The release alleges the partners of the business, Jesse J. Gabern and Jill A. Campbell did not pay proper retail sales tax and consumers compensating use and withholding totalling $55,693.52.
Assets seized include all known bank accounts, on-site cash, business inventory, and personal property belonging to the owners. The business was sealed with a public notice posted on the exterior. The release states that all seized assets will be sold at public auction to pay the delinquent taxes.
The KDOR said in the release that their policy is to work with tax payers as much as possible.
“KDOR’s policy and practice is to work with taxpayers in delinquent status to voluntarily enter into repayment agreements,” the release said. “It is only after these efforts and multiple failed collection attempts that the department is forced to execute a tax warrant, utilizing such actions as bank levies, till taps, and ultimately asset seizure to ensure compliance with the law.”
Campbell declined comment on advice of counsel, and Gabern could not be reached for comment.
