PITTSBURG -- A female victim was taken to the Via Christi Hospital emergency room with what appears to be a gunshot wound, according to police.
At about 4:15 p.m. Saturday,Pittsburg Police Department officers along with Crawford County EMS and the Pittsburg Fire Department were called to the area of Quincy and Rouse Streets in reference to a woman who had been shot a PPD release said.
When they arrived officers found a female victim lying in a driveway of a vacant residence on the northwest corner of the intersection. The woman had suffered a single gunshot wound to the abdomen and was taken to Via Christi Medical Center where she was taken into surgery. Her condition is unknown at this time, the release said.
According to witnesses at the scene, the victim was a passenger in a vehicle driven by a white male. The victim had exited the vehicle and was arguing with the white male, who had also exited the vehicle. The man then allegedly shot the victim with an unknown type of handgun, got back into the vehicle and left the scene eastbound on Quincy Street.
The suspect is described as a white male with a full beard and short dark hair, and was last seen wearing a blue button up type shirt. The vehicle involved in the incident was described as a black 4-door SUV, possibly a Dodge, with unknown tag.
