Jason Pickert, an 18-year veteran of the Fort Scott Police Department, was recently named the department’s new chief, the City of Fort Scott has announced. Pickert will replace Police Chief Travis Shelton, who is retiring, and will take over as FSPD chief on March 1.

Emily Lone brought her first-grade class from Pittsburg’s St. Mary’s Elementary School to visit the Ronald McDonald House (RMH) in Joplin on Monday. This has been an annual visit for Lone since 2008, after personally experiencing the support RMH provides when her daughter was born with cancer.
