Girard Medical Center announced the appointment of Melanie Cumoletti in a dual role both as Executive Director of the Foundation and as GMC’s Marketing Director.
The Girard Medical Center Foundation serves to encourage ongoing community support in financing the hospital as well as strengthen their communications and provide long-term leadership. Cumoletti’s position is responsible for generating revenue from individuals and corporations for the betterment of the hospital as well as providing coordination and leadership for the Foundation Board and other volunteers.
“In hiring an Executive Director, the Foundation Board recognized the impact of long term leadership within the Foundation, and how that will benefit them in continuing their goal of assisting GMC in meeting their needs in serving the patients in our communities,” said Girard Medical Center CEO Kenny Boyd.
Cumoletti’s additional role, as GMC’s Marketing Director serves to promote increased awareness and use of programs and services offered by Girard Medical Center. Her duties include editorial direction, design, production and distribution of all GMC publications as well as the development of marketing plans for hospital services.
After receiving her bachelor’s degree in communications from the College of the Ozarks in Branson, Mo., Cumoletti relocated to Pittsburg where she spent the past two years working as assistant director of annual giving at Pittsburg State University. Her experience includes higher education, church and chamber fundraising.  A Springfield, Mo., native, Cumoletti, her husband Jeremy, and their two children, Ariana and Israel, have embraced Kansas as their home, and she is excited about her role with GMC.
“I am honored to be a part of this exciting time in Girard Medical Center’s history,” Cumoletti said. “Over the next year we will be changing and growing significantly. We are strong in difficult economic times. My job is to ensure that we remain strong and competitive in the health care industry through support from our community, our leadership, and our staff.”
