A Kansas legislator is proposing that hunters be allowed to hunt mountain lions in the state.
Rep. Mitch Holmes, a Republican from St. John, said Monday that more mountain lions are being seen in the state, and the animals endanger livestock and farmers.
Chris Tymeson, chief counsel for state Wildlife and Parks, says the state already allows people to shoot a mountain lion on personal property.
But he says it's illegal to own a mountain lion carcass. Tymeson explained that law is to discourage people from actively hunting mountain lions.
