Two local organizations are among the beneficiaries of the Kansas Health Foundation’s Fall 2009 Recognition Grants Programs.
This year, the KHF has awarded more than $950,000 to help organizations across the state to accomplish projects that are aimed at improving the health and wellness of Kansas residents. Fifty-seven projects received funding through the program, including two in Crawford County.
The Family Resource Center, a child care and early educational facility, received $25,000 to go toward the relocation of its existing playground equipment to the Center’s new site at 1600 N. Walnut. The funding will prepare the new site’s playground area for equipment installation and cover the costs of moving the equipment, according to the KHF.
Pittsburg State University received $24,613 for the “Educating for Public Health” project. The funds will go toward helping to develop two courses in public health, which the university hopes to offer for general credit. The grant is intended to help pay staffing costs, as well as travel to conferences related to public health topics.
