Labette Community College's Phi Beta Lambda Pi Zeta Chapter will be holding an Employment Law Seminar on Monday, October 20, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Theibaud Theatre on the 2nd floor of the Main Building. This informative seminar will cover many aspects of the legal parts of managing employees. This one day training will help you learn the State of Kansas employment laws.
This will be a great opportunity to meet with other businesses from our community and share concerns and questions with face-to-face help. Some of the topics that will be covered include; Kansas laws and ADA to EEO and affirmative action, guidelines for interviewing potential employee's and steps for termination, recordkeeping skills and safeguarding your employee records, benefit administration "how–to's" from changes in COBRA to Workers' Comp., keeping you and your company out of legal hot water, and Federal regulations that impact the workplace such as: Military Leave, FMLA, sexual harassment, wrongful discharge, and discrimination claims, religious accommodations, etc.
The speakers include Will Downs, who is the assistant Vice President of Human Resources at Indiana State University and Major Fran Oleen, who is the Staff Judge Advocate for the Kansas Air Guard. Downs has over 25 years experience in Human Resources.
