Blood drive
American Red Cross will conduct a community blood drive from 1 to 5:30 p.m. Monday and 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Countryside Christian Church.
The Red Cross has issued an emergency call for blood donors due to fewer donations than expected in June, along with an early start to summer activities and a mid-week Fourth of July which reduced the number of scheduled Red Cross blood drives.
All blood types are needed, particularly O positive, O negative, B negative and A negative.
Donors must be at least 17 years old (16 in Kansas with parental permission), weigh at least 110 pounds and be in general good health. High school students and other donors aged 18 or younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
Donors will need to bring a blood donor card, driver’s license or two other forms of identification with them. Anyone wishing to sign up for an appointment to donate blood or needing additional information may call 1-800-RED CROSS (800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org.
