Haircut-a-thon
A haircut-a-thon to benefit the Southeast Kansas Humane Society will  be held from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Meadowbrook Mall center court.

Haircuts for adults will be $10, and cuts for children 14 and younger will be $7. Also available will be 10-minute sit-down massages for $5. No reservations are required.

Local massage therapists donating their time from 1 to 5 p.m. are Lorraine Achey of Expansive Massage Therapy and Lena Shires of Heaven on Earth Salon.

Stylists volunteering their services for the 1 to 3 p.m. shift are Marilyn Jackson and Vera Thompson of Walk Out Perfect; Lanessa Arthur, Arthur’s Barber Shop; Keile Allen, J.C. Penney Salon; and Susan Harris.

Volunteering for the 3 to 5 p.m. shift are: Tom Lallemand, A Head of Its Time; Becky Robinson and Amelia Tersinar, Cut N Class; and Brian Hendrickson and Berna McLeod, Salon 9.

All proceeds will go to the Humane Society animal shelter.

Southeast Kansas Chapter, National Organization for Women, will meet at 2 p.m. at the Pittsburg Public Library.

Candidates Linda Grilz, Julie Menghini and Angela Trimble will discuss their campaigns. All persons interested in women’s issues may attend.
