A man who stole a giant packet of Peanut M&Ms told Cambridge police he likes peanuts after being arrested Friday.

On Nov. 18 at 9:40 a.m., police responded to a shoplifting at Technology Square. The man was reportedly seen walking up and down aisles, placing items into his backpack via surveillance cameras at a store. He then fled the store on foot through traffic.

Police searched the area and caught the suspect at the intersection of Albany and Portland streets. Located in the backpack was a store master carton containing 48 bags of Peanut M&M candy. When asked why he had so much candy, he reportedly said, “I like peanuts.”

Joseph J. Rudolph, 20, of 222 Fuller St., Boston was charged with resisting arrest and shoplifting. A warrant was also found on him for receiving stolen property over $250, police said.
