Good Ol’ Days Festival to feature new entertainment

The Fort Scott Good Ol’ Days Festival committee has added new entertainment to the stages and the pavilion this year. “We have brought in some old favorites and some new bands to offer our festival-goers more music choices,” said Millie Lipscomb, festival chairperson. “We have a combination of rock and roll, gospel, bluegrass, country, and music for teenagers,” she added.

On Friday, June 1st, the popular Street Dances start at 8:00 p.m. and include Joe Giles and the Homewreckers at the new Wall Street Stage. This group plays anything from rock to country and was twice voted the Rock Band of the Year by the Ozark Music Awards; you won’t be disappointed. The teen dance at the First Street Stage will feature our own local DJ Jeff Hull.

On Saturday, June 2nd, Bob Kitsmiller & the Backwoods Kuzins will perform on the Wall Street Stage at 10:00, 12:00, and 2:00. This group, from Arcola, Missouri, plays Classic Country, Gospel and Bluegrass songs. Bob, the group leader, is the director of a national syndicated radio program, Bluegrass USA.

The Christian Rock/Praise band, Left to Paradise, from Life Track Christian Center in Frontenac, and affiliated with Community Christian Church in Fort Scott, will perform at the First Street Stage on Saturday at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm.

Band members include Delynn Drake, Adam Hall, Brian Hall, Jonathan Moyers, Mason Vanderpool, and Nick Hoyt.

Big Red the Clown will be making balloon animals and “clowning around” at the Citizens Bank Pavilion from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm with shows at 12:00 and 2:00.

The Sweet Adelines – Show-Me Harmony Chorus from Joplin, MO will perform at the Wall Street Stage on Saturday at 3:00 and 4:00 pm. This group is a highly respected worldwide organization of women singers committed to advancing the musical art from of barbershop harmony through education and performance. Chorus members come from the Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma areas.

The Red Garter Show is a Good Ol’ Days favorite and will have one show on Friday night at 7:30 pm and shows starting at 10:30 am on Saturday at the Scottish Rite Temple. This group has dancing girls, singers, and comedy acts and is sure to entertain.

The Saturday night Street Dance will feature Disco Dick and the Mirrorballs at the Wall Street Stage starting at 8:00 pm.

Disco Dick is one of Kansas City’s premier dance/party cover bands. Get your dancing shoes and disco attire on and rock out with this great 70’s band. The Teen Street Dance at the First Street Stage will feature a DJ from KSYN 92.5.
