Slick roads Friday lead to the death of a Liberal, Mo., man Friday in an accident three miles west of 240th on 171 Highway.
The victim has been identified at Timothy A. Strevens, 36, Liberal.
Crawford County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of an injury accident at 5:39 p.m. Friday.
Strevens, driving a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix, was traveling west on 171 highway. Witnesses said that he went to pass another vehicle and lost control of the car on the slick pavement.
A 2008 Pontiac G5, driven by Shawn Anderson, 27, Bartlesville, Okla., and owned by Chelsea Sherrick, also of Bartlesville, was traveling east on 171 and struck the Grand Prix in the driver’s side door. The victim was pronounced dead at the accident scene and the body was transported to Derfelt Funeral Home.
Also in the G5 were Samantha M. Anderson, 21, Pittsburg, and Benjamin C. Leavitt, 20, Mound city.
Two passengers from the G5 were taken to Via Christi Hospital by Crawford County EMS with possible serious injuries. A third passenger was treated and released at the scene.
Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department along with EMS and Baker Fire Department, Pittsburg Fire Department and Crawford County EMS all responded to the scene.
