The Pittsburg Family YMCA concluded its annual membership campaign Friday with a victory luncheon at Parrot Bey.

Goals for the campaign were $350,000 in memberships and $20,000 in the adult-for-youth section.

“We just barely made our goal,” said Jack Bache, YMCA executive director.

He attributed this success to the dedication and hard work of the volunteers and the leadership of drive chairman Blake Benson and his co-chair, Jeff Wilbert.

“Christy Mitchell was able to get 11 new members this morning when she called on Names and Numbers,” he said. “This shows the dedication and creativity of our workers. We also had some great rookies this year who did a really good job.”

Volunteers are divided into teams led by co-captains, and the team led by Judy Westhoff and Helen Broyles was the No. 1 team this year, with the team of Debbie Bridwell and Renee Pace in second place.

Volunteers  honored in the various categories were: Peggy Bennett, most family memberships and most senior memberships; Debbie Bridwell, most adult memberships; Renee Pace, most youth memberships; Judy Westhoff and Joe Hart, tied for the most century memberships; Sherri Cirillo, most new memberships; Christy Mitchell and Brenda Chappell, most improved workers; Judy Westhoff, most sales by a woman, with Peggy Bennett placing second; Jack Overman, most sales by a man, with Joe Hart placing second; and Amanda Sukraw, rookie of the year.

Quota busters for the drive were Peggy Bennett, Mattye Foxx, John Mitchelson, Maureen Huerter, Joyce Medford, Heidi Misasi, Lawana Esch, Carol Wimmer, Shane Peak, Joe Hart, Don Orender, Michelle McConnell, Mark Werner, Brenda Chappell, Wanda Mercer, Chuck Hosman, Drew Rhodes, Janet Patterson, Barry Coleman, Teresa Kolarik, Sara Beezley, Rodney Odgers, Leslie Harrison, Ashley Robison, Amanda Sukraw, Ashleigh Hamblin, Judy Westhoff, Helen Broyles, Diane James, Ron Marrone, Jeff Wilbert, Blake Benson, Danna Steele, Peggy Kimmel, Shelly Gromer, Brooke Beasley, Kelsey Guimond, Debbie Bridwell, Renee Pace, Cheryl Carlson, Sherri Cirillo, Jack Overman, Judy Smardo, Kim Casper, Heidi Moody, Christy Mitchell, Janie Terry, Kim Scripsick and April VanBecelaere.

Benson called on the volunteers not to let their work on behalf of the YMCA end with the conclusion of the drive.

“It’s invaluable to have loyal supporters of the YMCA go out and talk about it,” he said. “We need that 12 months of the year.”

Wilbert, who will serve as drive chairman next year, echoed that sentiment.

“We need to be constantly selling the YMCA,” he said.
