Students at R.V. Haderlein in the speech program, four-year-old program and first grade are researching upcoming holidays and working on various winter activities following break.
Sherry Boultinghouse’s speech students are continuing to use correct speech during conversations and have added winter worksheets to their speech books.
Students in the four-year-old program, taught by Carissa Lindbloom, have been studying space and will visit the Moon Lab at Greenbush on Feb. 6.
First grade students at RVH are studying new subjects. In math they are learning doubles plus one facts and fact practice as well as building speed and number concepts to 100.
In reading, students are learning to cite word development and continuing to work on phonics skills.
In social studies and economics they are learning the difference between needs and wants as well as learning about winter animals, penguins, Martin Luther King, Jr. and Kansas Day.
Students with winter birthdays in Missy Brynds’ class include Justin Ferguson and Syerra Gilmore, January; Hunter Hickman and Bailey Troike, February; and Trevor Amershek, Christian Taylor and Tanner Ulbrich, March.
In Leah Gottlob’s class Gabe Saker has a February birthday while Beau Harris and Adam Shireman have March birthdays.
Students with winter birthdays in Karen Kukovich’s class include Abriel Schmidt in January; Logan Camp, Brandon Leritz, Amiah Roberts and Erica Vail, February; and Rhian Flack and Kaleb Scales, March.
In Shirley Lechien’s class, Alissa Hall and Danica Lopez have January birthdays while Lane Sullivan has a February birthday. Ashley Sayre celebrates her birthday in March.
Other students at RVH have been preparing for state assessments that will take place at the end of February and continue through the beginning of March.
In addition, on Jan. 26 RVH will hold a Parent Education Night that will begin with a chili feed from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Dr. Gina Pinamonti, guest speaker, will then give a presentation titled “Four Steps to Responsibility.”
The night will also feature several breakout sessions where parents may enter to win prizes that will be awarded at the end of the night.
Prizes include Kindles, gas cards, gift cards and other items.
All parents are invited to attend.
