Commission to vote on IRB package

PITTSBURG —

At the March 11 meeting, Pittsburg City Commissioners approved an Industrial Revenue Bond application for construction of a 73-unit Holiday Inn Motel and Suites.
At 7 p.m. tonight at City Hall, commissioners will vote on the first reading of Ordinance S-965 that will authorize the issuance of the IRB and tax exemption for the project.

Commissioners will also vote on a resolution authorizing the sale of general obligation bonds and an ordinance authorizing the issuance of $3.3 million in general obligation bonds to cover capital projects.

Commissioners are also looking at a 30-minute executive session regarding confidential affairs of a corporation.

In other business, Pittsburg City Commissioners will vote on:

• a contract in the amount of $17,000 with J & M Displays of Yarmouth, Iowa, for the July 4th, 2008, fireworks display to be held at Lincoln Park.

• a recommendation form the Traffic Advisory Board and city staff for the placement of stop signs for east and westbound traffic at the intersections of Fifth and Highland and Sixth and Highland.

• a dance hall license renewal application for 5th Street Bar and Grill, submitted by Jeff Strahan.

• a façade grant application submitted by John Kutz for $5,000. That grant will cover renovations at 108 A & B W. Sixth St.
