Crawford County Sheriff’s Department staff responded to two possible injury accidents Friday and Saturday.
Officers responded to a one-car accident at 11:55 a.m. Friday at .2 miles east of 170th Street on 640 Avenue.
George Showman, 67, Arma, was traveling west on 640 Avenue in a 1982 Chevy Citation when he lost control of the vehicle on the gravel surface and slid into a bridge structure on the north side of the road. The vehicle struck the bridge on the driver’s side and came to rest in a dry creek bed.
The accident caused damage to an electric fence owned by Dean and Dennis Davied.
Showman was transported to Girard Medical Center by Crawford County EMS for possible injuries. Linda Showman, 60, Arma, a passenger in the vehicle, was transported for possible injuries as well.
Crawford County EMS and Arma Fire Department responded to this accident.
The second accident occurred at 12:43 p.m. Saturday at 510 Avenue and US 69 Highway.
A 1995 Dodge Ram 1500, driven by Jacob H. Dalton, 18, Pittsburg, was eastbound and failed to yield at the stop sign on 510 Avenue. A 1997 Cadillac Seville, driven by Joey E. Skidmore, 42, Pittsburg, was northbound on US 69, and the two vehicles met.
Both vehicles ended up in the east ditch, and both were totaled.
Dalton was transported to Via Christi Hospital by Crawford County EMS for unknown injuries, and Skidmore was transported to Via Christi by personal vehicle. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
Also assisting the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department was Baker Fire Department and Crawford County EMS.
