A Girard man was arrested Monday after he fled from an accident near Opolis.
Close to 2 p.m. Monday, Clinton Smith, 54, Jasper, Mo., was driving a truck with an attached feeder as he attempted to make a turn into a driveway on the western side.
Another car, driven by Thomas Houdashelt Jr., 33, Pittsburg, failed to stop and struck the back of the feeder. Deputies contacted both drivers and found that two people from Houdashelt’s car had run from the scene.
Deputies tracked down the two who ran off on foot and identified them as Brandon Ivicsics, 22, Girard, and John Mistler, 37, Pittsburg.
Ivicsics was arrested for possession of stolen property and for leaving the scene of an accident. Mistler was taken to Via Christi Hospital with unknown injuries.
