The Pittsburg Public Library may get its new entry after all.
After initial bids came in too high for a new east entry vestibule, staff went back to the drawing board, including passing a contract amendment with Williams Spurgeon Kuhl & Freshnock Architects, Inc., to cover additional geotechnical expenses on the property.
At 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Pittsburg City Commissioners will vote on the result — a low total bid of $114,367, submitted by Tri-State Construction of Pittsburg.
That bid is under the original engineer’s estimates of $124,000. All of the previous bids were over the estimates.
City staff is recommending approval of Tri-State’s bid.
Commissioners will also receive an update on the U.S. Highway 69 Sanitary Sewer replacement project, provided by city staff.
Ron Light and John Harrison also be on-hand to discuss plans for jumps at the 23rd Street Bike Park.
In other business, Pittsburg City Commissioners will vote on:
• a façade grant application submitted by the Mirza Shrine, owner of the property located at 110 W. Fifth St., in the amount of $8,600.
• a Cereal Malt Beverage license application submitted by Sunshine Energy, LLC, for the convenience story located at 2401 S. Rouse for 2009.
• a staff recommendation to award a bid for a new two-year lease of 10 copy machines to Copy Products, based on their low bid amount of $3,167.74 per month.
• the second reading of two ordinances fixing the rates and minimum charges for water and sewer service.
