The Fort Scott police department and other area police agencies, are participating in the Kansas Thanksgiving Traffic Enforcement Campaign, beginning Monday, November 23 through Sunday, November 29. A grant from the KDOT will enable the department to have more officers present on roadways, to aggressively enforce Kansas traffic laws. They will be watching for driving impaired, children, teens and adults that are not properly restrained.
Those that drive under the influence of alcohol or other drugs, endanger themselves, their passengers, and other motorists or pedestrians. In the state of Kansas, six persons - most of them innocent, are killed or injured in nine alcohol related crashes each day.
If you are going to be drinking at all, consider staying home or make arrangements for a designated driver. Always wear your seatbelt and don't move the vehicle until all passengers are restrained.
