Nathan Johnson, 19, Pittsburg, was found on Nov. 12 to have violated his conditions of probation of four prior convictions: Two felony theft convictions, a misdemeanor theft conviction and a misdemeanor obstruction of official duty conviction.
The court revoked his probation on the above cases, and the Crawford County Attorney’s Office recommended to the court that Johnson serve his underlying sentences in the Kansas Department of Corrections. The court ordered Johnson to serve his remaining time of five months in prison.
Randy L. Gingery, 36, Pittsburg, was sentenced to three years in the Kansas Department of Corrections and 24 months post-release supervision for his September conviction of aggravated indecent liberties with a child under 14 years of age.
Gingery was also ordered to register as a sex offender and to have no contact with the victim.
There were two trials Nov. 19 at the District Court in Girard. Ricardo A. Quinteros, 39, Pittsburg, was found guilty of criminal damage to property. Quinteros was placed on unsupervised probation, ordered to pay restitution and is to have no contact with the victim.
Christy D. Hendricks, 30, Pittsburg, was found guilty of mistreatment of a dependent adult. Hendricks was sentenced to six months in the Crawford County Jail, suspended the sentence, but imposed two days in the county jail as a sanction, 12 months probation, ordered to pay restitution, perform 10 hours of community service and ordered to have no contact with the victim.
Michael Gayoso Jr., Crawford County attorney, said that he was especially pleased with the convictions of Hendricks and Gingery.
“Both of these defendants targeted innocent victims who could not care for themselves,” he said. “Rather than looking after their best interest, they victimized them in intolerable ways.”
