Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center is now home to QuickCare, a walk-in clinic offering treatment of minor injuries and illness.
"There's never a good time to be sick," says Jonathan Davis, President/CEO of Mt. Carmel. "So often things happen on the weekend or after five o'clock, when it's difficult to see your primary physician. With QuickCare you'll be able to receive treatment for your minor illnesses seven days a week. It provides us an opportunity to either facilitate follow-up care with a patient's local physician or find a primary care physician for those who are in need."
Staffed by a board certified physician and nurse practitioners, Mt. Carmel QuickCare provides diagnosis and treatment for minor and common illnesses such as sore throats, ear aches, seasonal allergies, colds, flu, pink eye, minor skin conditions and bronchitis. QuickCare will also treat insect stings, athlete's foot, poison ivy and head lice.
Mt. Carmel is the first health ministry in the Via-Christi family to open an on-site, walk-in clinic.
"There are many advantages to having QuickCare within our hospital," says Rick Little, Director of Occupational Health. "It's a way for Mt. Carmel to support our community with a convenient, low-cost, after-hours alternative in a comprehensive setting."
The Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce will hold an official ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 15.
Mt. Carmel QuickCare is open Monday-Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sunday from 1-7 p.m.
For more information, persons may call the QuickCare offices at 235-QUIK.
