Heartbreaking news: A male pit bull refused to leave his dead mate on a roadside in Phoenix, and a picture of the dogs went viral on Facebook. The female dog apparently was hit by a car, and animal control didn’t pick her up for 14 hours.

Happening today: Memorial Day weekend means a big movie opens at theaters, and this year’s offering is “Men in Black 3.” Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones and Josh Brolin star in this sequel.

Gas update: GasBuddy.com reports that the highest gas prices on the last day before Memorial Day weekend kicks into gear are in Santa Barbara, Calif., ($4.421) and San Francisco ($4.358).

Motivational quote: “If you would create something, you must be something.” - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Watercooler talk: Stuntman makes skydive without parachute

A stuntman in Britain has became the first person to skydive from above 2,000 feet and land without a parachute. Gary Connery jumped out of a helicopter wearing a special "wingsuit," and he landed on a runway of cardboard boxes.
