It was a successful day in court for the Crawford County Attorney’s office on Wednesday as four defendants were sentenced to prison in unrelated cases.
William Earl Brown, Pittsburg, was sentenced on July 1 to more than eight years in jail for five separate counts, including three felonies and two misdemeanors.
Brown was sentenced to 71 months in jail for felony aggravated battery. Brown was ordered to pay $17,940 in restitution. Brown was sentenced to another year for attempted aggravated solicitation of a child. Brown received six months in state prison for criminal threat.
He also received six months each in county jail for domestic battery and battery. Sentencing will run consecutive on these counts, adding up to roughly eight years, five months in jail.
Leon V. McCarrell, Coffeyville, was sentenced to 12 months in state jail for felony obstruction of the legal process.
Frederick Paul Wiley, Pittsburg, was sentenced to 61 months in state prison for felony aggravated indecent liberties with a child.
Timothy A. Clinton, Pittsburg, was also sentenced to more than two years in jail for theft and was found guilty of violating conditions of probation on two other cases.
Clinton was ordered to serve 12 months in state prison for felony theft. Clinton was found guilty of violating conditions of his probation on a prior conviction of burglary and ordered to serve 13 months consecutive to the felony theft case. In addition, Clinton was also found to have violated conditions of his probation of a third case and sentencing was modified to run concurrent with the other cases.
Michael Gayoso, Crawford County attorney, said he was “very pleased with the results and hard work from [his] office and law enforcement. Criminals need to start understanding that if you violate the law, our office will prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law".
Crawford County Deputy Attorney Reina Probert and Assistant Attorney Mary Jo Goedeke handled these cases.
