PITTSBURG —

A Pittsburg man was killed at 8 p.m. Saturday when he was struck by a train in the 900 block of East Washington Street.
Officers from the Pittsburg Police Department, Pittsburg Fire Department and Crawford County EMS were called to the site, a Kansas City Southern train crossing, in reference to a pedestrian-train accident.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of a white male lying between the tracks north of the railroad crossing. The victim, later identified as James Ralph Hoag, 24, Pittsburg, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Crawford County Coroner’s Office. The body was removed an taken to Topeka for autopsy and identification.
The investigation into the incident is continuing.
