Some of the $30,000 worth of items stolen in a burglary on Feb. 7 have been recovered.
On Feb. 7, J.D. Odle reported a building on his property had been broken into and a torch and grinder were used to forcibly enter a locked gun safe.
More than 50 guns, archery equipment and a new cordless drill were taken, but the drill, some archery equipment and 31 of the guns were recovered in an investigation Feb. 15 into Feb. 16.
Investigators from the Crawford County Sheriff’s office and the Pittsburg Police Department worked together on information received by the PPD about possible suspects in the case. Pittsburg detectives had developed suspects in several cases being investigated and believed some of the other crimes were connected to the Odle burglary and theft.
Investigators from both departments worked Feb. 15 and 16 to track down the items, and the investigation continues.
Both departments continue to follow leads in the case and are working to recover remaining property. The sheriff’s office said at least two people will face charges stemming from the burglary at the conclusion of the investigation, and additional subjects could face charges for their involvement.
Investigators ask that anyone with knowledge about the case or who is aware of the location of the remaining guns call the Crawford County Sheriff’s office at 620-724-8274.
They also ask that anyone who has purchased a firearm from an individual since Feb. 7 call and have it compared to the list of guns still missing.
