Democrat Women
Crawford County Democrat Party Women’s Club will host a district meeting of Federated Democrat Women at Parrot Bey. Registration will open at 9:30 a.m.
Program will focus on the role of local women in the Amazon Army, presented by Linda Knoll. Additional features will include tours of Miners Memorial and the Pittsburg State University Veterans Memorial. Lunch speaker will be Steve Boyda.

Arma egg hunt
ARMA — Annual Easter egg hunt, postponed from April 24 because of inclement weather, will be held at 2 p.m. at the Arma City Park. In case of rain it will be held in the Arma American Legion Hall.

Church breakfast
Grace United Methodist Church will serve a pancake breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. at the church, E. 20th and Elm.
Menu will feature pancakes and sausage, orange juice, milk and coffee. Cost will be $4 for adults and $2 for children under 12. Those attending should enter the church by the south door.
The church will also have a bake sale from 7 a.m. until sold out.
Pittsburg Farmers Market
This will be Sampler Saturday at the Pittsburg Farmers Market, to be held from 7:30 a.m. until noon or sold out at Second and Broadway.
Participating producers will have samples of their products available. Among the items at the market will be asparagus, baby spinach, arugula, washed, spun and bagged mixed Asian greens with baby bok choi, mizuna and mustard greens, raw honey, natural beef, pork, chicken and eggs, sprouted wheat bread, garden and heirloom tomato starters, vegetable and herb starter plants, perennials, cookies and other baked goods, handmade garden items, outdoor furniture, butterfly, bird and bat houses, jewelry, journals, greeting cards, hair bows, art, Farmers Market T-shirts and other items.
The producer-only market accepts Vision, debit and credit cards. Anyone wishing to entertain or use the community booth at the market may call 620-231-3835. Those needing additional information or wishing to become part of the market may call Chuckie Hessong at 620-249-3011.

A fundraising pancake feed for Crawford County Democrats will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. at Applebee’s. Cost will be $5 for all-you-can-eat pancakes and beverage.
Bark for Life
Bark for Life, an event of the Crawford County Relay for Life, will be held from noon to 2 p.m. at Schlanger Park.

Bark for Life
Bark for Life, an event of the Crawford County Relay for Life, will be held from noon to 2 p.m. at Schlanger Park.
There will be a dog contest with prizes for winners in each category, and relay teams will have booths with items for sale. Special guests will include the Pittsburg Police Department K-9 dog and Bethany Schifferdecker, Girard, who competes in many shows with her dogs.
Registration fee is $15 for the first dog, then $5 for each additional dog. Prizes will be given to every dog registered. All registration fees will go toward team totals for the Relay for Life, which benefits the American Cancer Society.
Garland fundraiser
GARLAND — Garland Rural Fire Department will have its annual fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside the Garland fire station.
Hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, cake or pie, coffee and soft drinks will be served for a free-will donation.
Entertainment will be provided and the Med-Flight helicopter will land at 10:45 a.m. unless there is an emergency. On display will be the new pumper-tanker fire truck that the department brought home Jan. 18, 2011, from Lyons, S.D. It was purchased with a grant.
A drawing will be held at 2 p.m. for door prizes donated by area merchants. Winners must be present. There will also be a drawing for a $100 bill, and the winner of this need not be present.
Harrigan party
GIRARD — Madaline Harrigan will be honored with a 90th birthday party from 5 to 7 p.m. at the First Christian Church, Girard.
All family and friends may stop by and help celebrate the occasion.
Liberal concert
LIBERAL, Mo. — “Singing in the Park” concert will be held at 5 p.m. in the North City Park, Liberal, Mo.
The event is being hosted by the Brush Arbor Bluegrass Band. Other bands scheduled to participate are the Backwoods Cuzins and Drywood Bluegrass. A love offering will be accepted and given to the performers for their expenses. Liberal Civic Group will have concessions in the community building.
Those attending should bring lawn chairs. In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved into the Liberal Elementary School gym.
