Hepler has been hit on Sunday in what may be the latest of a string of arsons in the city.

Just after midnight on Sunday, police received a call about a fire at 406 N. Elm in Hepler. By the time fire crews arrived, the home was severely damaged by fire and smoke. The house is owned by David James Phillips, Pittsburg, and was vacant at the time.

There have been two other reported arsons in Hepler in the last two months, including one on Elm Street and one on Fourth Street, both homes suffering minor damages.

All fires remain under investigation. Anyone with information regarding any of these fires is encouraged to call the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.
